In our second list, we have the Mi Notebook Horizon 14 Edition, It is a 2020 edition, launched by Xiaomi India.

This laptop is a perfect suit for a gamer, video editor, programmer, or even a photographer. The performance of the laptop is very decent and smooth.

Let’s talk in detail.

Design and Build Quality

The design and the built quality are awesome and super cool. It uses magnesium alloy on the body. Yeah of course the material is very high quality, so you feel very premium.

Because of this, the overall laptop weight is about 1.35Kg, which is absolutely cool, and ultra-light, you can get it anywhere.

Talking about the hinges, it is very impressive and premium, you can set the lid at any angle, the lid can’t be up and down. Also, you can open the laptop with one hand. Which makes it very cool.

Additionally, you can’t find any brand logo or picture on the top side, which makes the minimalistic cool. Only you can find the brand MI logo on the button bezels.

The chassis is very high quality, it increases the overall durability but at all. The Lenovo iPad 5 wins in terms of durability.

But one thing is that in terms of the weight it won from the Lenovo, Dell Inspiron, Acer aspire 3, etc. If you are a traveler it this laptop can solve your carry problem.

Ok, that’s enough, let’s talk about the display.

This Mi Notebook 14 comes with a 14-inch FHD IPS panel display. It is a 60hz display but the color production and accuracy are awesome. Where it has 63% of SRGB, Adobe RGB 43%, and NTSC 45%. Which is great.

In terms of the brightness level, it is bad if you compare it to the other laptops, You can’t use it at daylight because it comes with 149 nits, but for gaming, it is enough.

Talking about the bezels are super thin, you get 3 sided thin bezels about 3 mm each, which means you get a wider screen. Because of it, you get a 91% screen-to-body ratio.

Are you interest in watch moves, working even in gaming then this is the absolute perfect screen size?

If you like me who loves to use a wider screen and high refresh rate screen at home, you can use a 165hz external monitor which comes under budget.

This Mi Notebook Horizon 14 has comes with a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10510U Processor, which has a max 1.8GHz and 4 Core & 8 threads. The performance is good

Additionally, It has an MX series Nvidia MX350 2GB GDDR5 Graphics instead of RTX or GTX. But the gaming is fine. We can’t count on gaming laptops.

For smooth performance 8GB DDR4-2666MHz RAM  and 512 GB PCIe Gen 3×4 NVMe SSD. For multitasking the laptop is ok.

You can’t upgrade the hardware in the future.

Further that coming to the cooling system, Which is an excellent, single fan but wider air intake area of 2530mm². It increases the overall multi-core performance. The fan produces noise while heavy use.

The laptop is ok with a 1080p video edition but in 4k edit, it takes more time to export the video. The photo editing and the gaming are fine.

The built quality is ok, you find a little bit of flex while you hard press the keys. It uses a good metal base. In terms of normal use, it is fine if you can’t find an issue.

Talking about the typing experience is very bad, Mi is disappointing me. Although it has a 1.3mm travel distance. If you do heavy typing somewhere you feel bad.

Yeah I know what is question is

Does Mi Notebook Horizon 14 Edition have a backlight?

Yes, it has a backlight with a single white color.

But the trackpad is absolutely fine and gives smooth scrolling.

Mi claims that it gives 10 hours of battery life, yeah which is great and larger. Along with this, you have a 65w fast charger.

  • 1 USB Type-C (For data transfer only)
  • 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A
  • 1 HDMI 2.0 output
  • 1 Power input
  • 1 USB 2.0
  • 1 audio/combo jack
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5

The sound is clear and louder, it uses Stereo Speakers with DTS Audio Processing. You get an amazing sound while you are watching movies or playing music or games.

But I suggest you use the dedicated gaming headphones while you are gaming.

This Mi Notebook 14 Horizon is a budget-friendly laptop that comes with under 60k rupees. With the great performance, battery life, display it makes you happy. But in terms of the build quality, it is the best budget lightweight laptop in India 2023.

3. Lenovo IdeaPad 5: The best slim & Compact laptop under 60000

Lenovo IdeaPad 5

Lenovo IdeaPad 5

  • Processor: 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 7 5700U
  • CPU Type: 8 core & 14 thread, 4.3GHz
  • GPU: Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics
  • RAM: 8GB RAM DDR4-3200
  • Storage: 512 GB Samsung SSD
  • Display: 14-inch FHD IPS, 60Hz
  • Battery: 12 Hours, Rapid charger
  • Weight: 1.39kg
  • Software: Windows 10 Home, MS Office Home and Student 2019

  • Thin and lightweight
  • Fantastic looks
  • All the features and ports you need
  • Plenty of battery life

  • A little bit of flex on the keyboard.

This Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is a powerful, compact, and well-built laptop available on Indian markets for under 60k rupees.

It is a good laptop. Let’s get in-depth.

Design and Build Quality

I love its minimalist design. Nowadays Lenovo adds this type of design to their laptops. You only find the branding on the lid Conor with a small size with black color, so the overall looks make premium products.

The whole interior is made with plastics but the lid is made up of metal. It weighs approximately 1.39 kg, which means the laptop is lightweight as well as slim. The laptop is 17.9 mm in thickness.

The laptop is durable but the keypad surface is a little bit flexible because of plastic materials. Otherwise, the laptop is excellent.

You can’t open the lid with one hand, because the hinges are not flexible. The laptop can give you only a 145-degree angle.

The keyboard design is also good. It is a standard Lenovo keyboard as we have seen in the past years on the other Lenovo model laptops.

The keyboard feels cheaper because of plastic use, but don’t worry the typing experience is quite good. If you love to write you can do it at night, it has a single color backlight.

The trackpad also feels cheap. It has a standard gesture and clicks making a clunking sound.

Also, the Lenovo gives importance to your privacy as like HP, so it gets a privacy shorter key, you can Off or ON the camera at any time with a single click on the F12 key. Furthermore, you also get a fingerprint reader, which is quite fast.

Coming to the display it has a 14-inch FHD IPS panel display, which supports the anti-glare. You got a 60Hz display with 4 sided nano bezels.

It has a 90% screen-to-body ratio, so you get a wide-angle view screen.

The color accuracy and reproduction is quite a bit of a problem, it has 54% of sRGB. You notice green color while you lower the lid. You can see the difference between 100% sRGB and 54% of sRGB screens.

If you do not like the display you can use the external monitor through the HDMI port.

Ok, let’s eliminate this, if you are ok then go for it.

There are only 300 nits of max brightness, which is quite a bit low. If you want to use it outdoors, then sorry for this.

From out of this, coming to the performance and specs of the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 laptop.

It comes with 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 7 5700U which is quite faster than the Intel I7. This has a max speed of 4.3 GHz and 8 Cores.

After that, you get an 8GB RAM DDR4-3200  and 512 GB Samsung SSD storage. Both are quite fast so the performance is faster. If you want to upgrade the hardware in the future also you can do that.

It has Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics, the photo editing, video edition is ok. But coming to gaming it can handle casual games, if you are planning to run modern gaming, then you play but in low settings, it can’t be handled the higher settings.

The cooling system uses a single large fan with a dual-channel heat pipe. So it can give a smooth running performance. The fan is quiet in normal use, but in case of heavy use, it sounds noisy.

  • 2 x USB-A 3.1 (Gen 1)
  • USB-C Gen 1 (power delivery & display port)
  • HDMI 1.4b
  • SD card reader
  • Headphone / mic combo
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.1

Battery life

It gives you 12 hours of battery life which sounds good. It comes with a 56w regular rapid charger so you can do 80% of the charge within 1 hour.

Also, you can charge the laptop with the USB type C port.

The sound is clean and clear. It uses 2 x 2W Stereo Speakers which is a dobby sound technology. Then you get a clear output.

In terms of the design, it is like a premium laptop. It is a thin and lightweight daily laptop. Because of its compact design, you can take it anywhere.

Also, the performance is excellent. You can do photo videos as well as programming. Apart from this is an affordable laptop.

Design and Build Quality

This is a 2020 model which comes with the same stand design which consistently comes in the past few years.

The whole laptop is made of aluminum alloy metal material, which is pretty good, feels solid, and sturdy in the hand. The diamond-cut design gives a premium look to the laptop. The weight is only 1.4kg.

You can see the brand text logo on the middle right side. It maintains the previous standard.

Coming to the button part, You got the rubber footpad on each Connor and 2 stereo speakers.

The laptop comes with different tending colors such as Indie Black, Gaia Green, and Dreamy White. From these 3 colors, I love the Gaia Green. As a college student, you love to carry a modern design look laptop.

Further, this coming to interior design is very classy. The hinge is pure metal and flexible. You can set the lid at any angle. But remember you can set it at only a 178-degree angle.

It has a regular 14-inch FHD IPS display.  The display comes with a 1080p 5.7 mm nano edge display. Along with this the display only supports a 60Hz refresh rate.

You got a 3 sided nano edge which comes with an 85% screen-to-body ratio. But the button bezels are thick because you see a silver-coated Asus VivoBook branding texture logo.

Coming to the top bezels is a 720p HD webcam, the capturing quality is decent, As I mentioned above, you can use it at your online class, meetings, etc.

Next to the color accuracy, it comes with sRGB 100%, which is fantastic. If you are a photo or video editor then you can see very excellent color.

It comes with a 250-nits  brightness level, which is quite low. I expected a minimum of 500 nits at this price level. you can’t use it outdoors, but in the indoor condition the laptop is perfect.

Thi SSD laptop’s performance is quite ok for daily work. It is powered with the 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 which has a 4 core and 4.2 GHz Turbo Boost Speed.

Compared to the Ryzen 5 5500U CPU, the performance is low. You can see both benchmark scores.

From that, it has an onboard 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM and 512GB SSD + 32GB Optane Memory. One highlight key is you can upgrade the SSD up to 2TB. Which is amazing.

Apart from this, you got an Integrated Intel Iris Xᵉ Graphics, which can run casual gaming. We can say it is a professional gaming laptop.

Overall, the laptop is for less heavy tasks and some casual gaming as well. Also, you can do your photo and video editing, programming. We can’t set it in the gaming laptop categories.

It uses the Asus intelligent performance technology (AIPT). There are 3 modes: Balance mode, Performance mode, and Whisper mode.

This is the Asus most exclusive algorithm which helps to save energy, cool the system, Increase performance, and maximize the airflow.

  • 1x USB 3.2
  • 1 Type-A
  • 2 USB 2.0 Type-A
  • Thunderbolt 4 supports display
  • 1 HDMI 1.4
  • 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack
  • Micro SD card reader
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.0

Battery Life

Because the AIPT technology optimizes the battery power. So you get up to 12 hours of battery life. You got a 50w fast regular charger.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The keyboard is chicklet and feels very comfortable. The keyboard base uses pure metal and feels high quality.

With the 1.4mm travel distance you got an extremely comfortable experience. Although it has a backlight with a single white color and fingerprint reader on the trackpad.

Also, you can see a highlight yellow enter key. Looks very nice.

Coming to the trackpad, it’s a glass-covered trackpad. The surfer is good and smooth. Also, it supports multi-support gestures. So you can use it with 1,2,3, and 4 fingers for different features like select, zoom, task view, and switch the desktop mode.

Other Highlight Specs.

This has the latest version MyASUS, which helps to connect your android phones with your laptop, so you can easily handle the app through your computer.

This is a great laptop in terms of design and built quality. It is a very compact and thin and lightweight laptop for under 60000 rupees in 2023.

Also, I love the decent battery life, AIPT technology, and the MyASUS smart connectivity. Yes, of course, this is not a gaming laptop.

If you are searching for a gaming laptop you can get it easily in the Indian market with a little bit of research.

But the multitasking is absolutely fine and quite smooth with the 6 core processor. Even if you open 50 tabs on chrome, photoshop, and visual studio.
